Why Active Biology is Essential for Drought Resilience

When precipitation is scarce, it is essential that all moisture coming in contact with your ground infiltrate into the soil where it can be held and used by plants. If there is no active biology, ground will be compacted and water will simply run off of the surface.

Watch this 30-second clip from Anchor Ranch to see how EnSoil Algae transformed rocky terrain into softer, more workable land.

The 28-Day Lifecycle of Aggregates

Soil aggregates are created by active soil biology. Aggregates are the reason good soil has structure and porosity for air and water to move.

Aggregates only last 24-28 days, so it is absolutely critical that the life in your soil remains active and always in the process of building new soil aggregates.

EnSoil Algae is fuel for all life in soil. Application of EnSoil has an immediate, positive influence on soil structure, water infiltration, and drought tolerance.

With Montana snowpack at record lows, now is the time to ensure your soil is ready to capture and hold every drop of moisture. Optimize your rainfall and irrigation water by supporting life in the soil!

The Science: Drought and salinity are referred to as abiotic stress, and Chlorella vulgaris has been shown to mitigate their effects. In controlled experiments, progressive reduction of water input (or rise in salt levels) is better tolerated by treated plants. Abiotic stress leads to accumulation of oxidative compounds including peroxide and the oxygen free-radical, which are toxic. Plants normally produce antioxidants in response (peroxidase and superoxide dismutase). With EnSoil Algae treatment in response to stress, the level of the antioxidant enzymes in plant tissue is higher.

Results you can trust:

  • “My new seeding alfalfa had a much greater drought resilience using EnSoil Algae™ as a seed inoculant, and a foliar feeding of EnSoil Algae™.”

  • “I got a 40-50 bu/acre advantage with the EnSoil Algae™ this year. I think what really contributed was the drought resilience - the product helped a lot there.”

  • “We had an historically dry year in Rappahannock County. We applied EnSoil Algae™ to our pastures 3 times opting not to apply any fertilizer. Our grass held up as well as any pasture in the area. Given the drought conditions we are encouraged and see benefit for continued use of EnSoil Algae™.”
