Billy Creek Ranch: Alfalfa Yield & Fertilizer Replacement

Location: Dillon, Montana | Partner: Nathan Anderson | Year: 2025

Overview: Billy Creek Ranch, a cow/calf and alfalfa operation near the Crazy Mountains, conducted a trial on 60 acres of alfalfa to evaluate EnSoil Algae™ as a total replacement for synthetic fertilizer.

The Results:

  • Fertilizer Input: Zero synthetic fertilizer was applied to the 60-acre trial block.

  • Application: Three applications of EnSoil Algae™ were made between late May and early August.

  • Yield Gain: The treated ground outperformed conventionally farmed ground by 15 bales per 20-acre section.

  • Total Output: A net gain of 45 bales across the trial acreage.

Key Takeaway: The results from Billy Creek Ranch confirm that EnSoil Algae™ can act as a primary fertility driver. Even while completely eliminating synthetic fertilizer, the ranch saw a significant increase in productivity, delivering a powerful return on investment.
