JBK Ranches: Second-Cut Yields and Herbicide Synergy

Location: Missoula, Montana | Partner: Jace Klucewich, JBK Ranches | Year: 2025

Overview: JBK Ranches evaluated EnSoil Algae™ across 200 acres of alfalfa and 100 acres of irrigated grass pasture to monitor yield consistency and synergy with existing herbicide programs.

The Results:

  • Alfalfa Production: Two applications led to a second cutting that equaled the first cutting in volume—a first-time occurrence for the ranch.

  • Grass Pasture: One application supported 40 heifers all summer; cattle maintained excellent condition and "look great."

  • Herbicide Synergy: When mixed with herbicide, the ranch noticed a "faster and better kill" of target weeds, indicating EnSoil Algae™ makes the herbicide more efficient.

  • Visual Response: Obvious visual markers were present where the product was applied, particularly on irrigated ground.

Key Takeaway: EnSoil Algae™ provides production stability, allowing for late-season yields that rival early-season peaks. Its ability to act as a biological surfactant for herbicides offers growers a way to improve weed control efficiency while supporting livestock health.
